.God's Way to Salvation
as prescribed in Scripture
(It
may be helpful to read the True
Faith
page before reading this site.)
Many
of us believe that salvation is a result of one or
more events. It may be due to our birth (perhaps from
good parents), or from something we may have done
(maybe performed good deeds). Or from something
someone else may have done (Baptized or Chrismated
us). Is this true?
Here
are some Scripture passages that describe God's way
of salvation:
Statement: We
have concluded that all people are sinners
Biblical Reference: "There is none righteous,
no not one...For all have sinned and fall short of the
glory of God." (Rom. 3:10,23)
Solution: We need to be
cleansed of our many sins.
Statement: Since we are
sinners, our reward is death.
Biblical Reference:
"For the wages
of sin is death," (Romans 6:23a) --- "And as it is appointed for
men to die once, but after this the judgment, so Christ
was offered once to bear the sins of many." (Hebrews 9:27)
Solution: We need to be
delivered from eternal death by a Savior, who has taken
our place in death.
Statement: We
cannot save ourselves through our righteous acts.
Biblical Reference: "For by grace you have been saved through
faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift
of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast." (Ephesians 2:8-9)--- "Not by works of
righteousness that we have done, but according to His
merct he saved us, by the washing of regeneration and
renewing of the Holy Spirit." (Titus
3:5)
Solution: We need a
righteous Person who can deliver us by His perfect work
of sacrifice.
Statement: God
himself has provide a sacrifice... a free gift.
Biblical
Reference: "but
the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus
our Lord." (Romans 6:23b)
"For God so loved the world that He gave His only
begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not
perish but have everlasting life." (John 3:16)
Solution: We need to
reach out and receive that gift of eternal life in
Christ.
Statement: The gift of eternal life comes through a confession
of faith in Christ.
Biblical
Reference: "That
if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe
in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you
will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto
righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto
salvation." (Romans 10:9-10)
--- "If we
confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us
our sins and cleanse us our unrighteousness." (1John 1:9) ---"Whoever shall call on the name of the Lord
shall be saved" (Romans 10:13)
Solution: We need to believe in Christ as
our Lord and Savior and confess Him in faith.
Statement: To receive Christ, we need to humble ourselves
and repent (turn from our sins), ask for God's
forgiveness and mercy, and invite Him into our heart.
Biblical
Reference: "Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord
and he will lift you up."(James
4:10)
---And forgive us our debts, as we also have
forgiven our debtors. (Matt. 6:12)---
God, be merciful to me
a sinner!(Luke 18:13) --- Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If
anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in
to him and dine with him, and he with Me. (Rev.
3:20)
Solution: If we are
sincere, and pray to receive Christ, God will indeed come
into our souls and save us.
Statement: Receiving Christ makes us true children of God.
Biblical
Reference: "But as many as received Him, to them He
gave the right to become children of God, even to those
who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor
of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of
God." (John 1:12) --- "Assuredly, I say to you, unless you
are converted and become as little children, you will by
no means enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore whoever humbles himself as this
little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. (Matthew 18:3-4)
Solution: Our salvation
is not something we're born into (of blood), nor do we
choose it on our own (will of the flesh) nor can any man
give it to us (the will of man), but only God can give it
to us.
Statement: Our faith can grow only by reading and knowing
and obeying Scripture, God's word.
Biblical
Reference: "So then faith
comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of
God." (Romans 10:17)
---"Study to show thyself approved unto God, a
workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing
the word of truth." (2 Tim. 2:15-KJV)--- "All Scripture is given by
inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for
reproof, for correction, for instruction in
righteousness, that the man of God may be complete,
thoroughly equipped for every good work." (1
Tim. 3:16-17)
Solution: We can know if
we are truly children of God if we have a desire to grow
in the knowledge of God.
- But grow in the grace and
knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To
Him be the glory both now and forever. Amen. (2 Peter 3:18)
- And this is eternal life, that
they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus
Christ whom You have sent. (John 17:3)
- For there is no other name under
heaven given amoung men by which we must be
saved. (Acts 4:20)
- These things I have written to you
that you may know you have eternal life. (1 John 5:13)
- In order to grow
in faith, it is important to attend a church
regularly that emphasizes the Biblical mandate of
Faith in God, Hope in Christ and Love through the
power of the Holy Spirit.
